MagicPodsPlasmoid — a widget for SteamOS and Steam Deck

The year 2026 begins with the release of a new project — MagicPodsPlasmoid.

This is a small widget for KDE Plasma 6 that provides a convenient interface for MagicPodsCore — a Linux utility for managing AirPods, Beats, Samsung Buds, and other headphones.

Thanks to this, Steam Deck owners can use MagicPods both in gaming mode and in desktop mode, which is especially relevant in light of the release of Valve’s Steam Machine.

After installation, simply pin the widget to the panel — and it’s ready to use.

If you are already familiar with MagicPodsDecky, the interface will feel very familiar. To add headphones, just connect them via the standard Bluetooth settings — they will automatically appear in the widget.

After connecting the headphones, the widget displays their battery level both inside the widget itself and on the panel icon. Additional features are available, such as noise control and other supported functions, as well as managing headphone connections and Bluetooth without leaving the widget.

MagicPodsPlasmoid and MagicPodsCore work not only on SteamOS, but also on other Linux distributions with KDE Plasma 6.
